Safari Packing List.

Each African destination can be unique in it'w own ways, challenges and travel value. Below is a safari packing list applicable for safaris to Uganda and Rwanda. We however believe that most of the items on the list will be applicable for travel to most African countries. The safari packing list is only indicative and should not be used as exclusive for each African destination.

 
Below is an indicative list of what you may wish to consider carrying while on Safari with us to Uganda and Rwanda.

1. 2-3 Pairs of lightweight slacks/trousers that can dry quickly (if worn tracking)
2. 1 Pair of shorts
3. 1-2 Long-sleeved shirts
4. 3 Short-sleeved t-shirts
5. A breathable waterproof and windproof jacket like a Gortex
6. 1 Sweater, sweatshirt or fleece
7. 1 Skirt (for women)
8. Swimsuit
9. Strong, waterproof walking boots – pants should be tucked into socks and boots while trekking (heavy-soled rain boots also work well)
10.Pair of sports sandals 
11.Telescopic Trekking Staff
12.Hat: Wide-brim or with a visor for sun protection
13.Sleepwear
14.Underwear (moisture wicking for gorilla tracking)
15.Lightweight wool socks
16.Gloves: gardening or similar (for tracking)

• Sunglasses with neck strap
• Insect repellent with DEET
• Small day pack
• Flashlight
• Binoculars
• Alarm clock – though our staff will wake you!
• Ear plugs
• Extra Batteries – Some safari Lodges have facilities for recharging batteries
• Camera and extra lenses
• Film, particularly fast film for the gorillas
• Personal toiletries
• Prescription medicines and possibly the prescription itself
• Kleenex tissues
• Wash cloth
• Sewing Kit (needle, thread, safety pins)
• Small notebook
• First Aid Kit including anti-diarrhea medicine, re-hydration sachets, aspirin, cold 
medication, antiseptic cream, band-aids, motion sickness pills, lip balm, eye drops and personal medication.
 
Our self drive vehicles are usually upon specification and advice fitted with;

-Good tyres

-Roof top/ground tent(US$30 extra per day for rooftop tents)

-Cooler box

-Two good spare tyres

-Extra tanks for fuel and water

-Cooking(cutlery, gas cooker etc) and camping equipments(tables, chairs, etc)

-First Aid Kit

-Spanners and spares for assistance incase of breakdown

-HF Radio communication

 -Fire Extinguisher

-220V inverter for charging small electric appliances

-Hi-Lift Jack -Triangle reflectors

-Stereo

-Lifted and heavy duty coil springs.

 

For our camping safari clients;

We supply camping gear at US$30 per day if required.

Full camping gear for 2 adults.

1 tent, 1 table, 2 chairs and 2 mattresses, plus  portable cooler box.
